چکیده

Abstract This contribution presents a theoretical and computational framework for two-scale shape optimisation of nonlinear elastic structures. Particularly, minimum compliance problems with composite (matrix-inclusion) microstructures subjected to static loads volume-type design constraints are focused. A homogenisation-based FE $$^2$$ 2 scheme is extended by an enhanced formulation variational (shape) sensitivity analysis based on Noll ’s intrinsic, frame-free continuum mechanics. The obtained overall information couples variations across micro- macroscopic scales. numerical example demonstrates the capabilities proposed framework. investigations involve mesh morphing parametrisation at both macro- microscopic

A numerical analysis of variational valuation techniques for derivative securities

In this paper, we consider the partial differential equations approach for valuing European and American style options on multiple assets. We use a method of lines finite element implementation available in the software package FEMLAB in order to solve the variational inequality that characterizes the American style option, as well as the partial differential equation that defines the European ...

Global sensitivity analysis of large-scale numerical landslide models based on Gaussian-Process meta-modeling

9 Large-scale landslide prediction is typically based on numerical modelling, with computer 10 codes generally involving a large number of input parameters. Addressing the influence of 11 each of them on the final result and providing a ranking procedure may be useful for risk 12 management purposes. This can be performed by a variance-based global sensitivity analysis. 13 Nevertheless, such an...

On sensitivity analysis of general variational inequalities

It is well known that the Wiener-Hopf equations are equivalent to the general variational inequalities. We use this alternative equivalent formulation to study the sensitivity of the general variational inequalities without assuming the differentiability of the given data. Since the general variational inequalities include classical variational inequalities and complementarity problems as speci...

Sensitivity analysis and parameters calculation of PV solar panel based on empirical data and two-diode circuit model

In this paper, a simple algorithm based on a two-diode circuit model of the solar cell is proposed for calculating different parameters of PV panels. The input parameters required for this algorithm are available from datasheets of the standard PV modules. The values of series and parallel resistances, as well as the recombination factor of Diode 2, are estimated through an iterative solution p...

Variational Methods in Shape Analysis

The concept of a shape space is linked both to concepts from geometry and from physics. On one hand, a path-based viscous flow approach leads to Riemannian distances between shapes, where shapes are boundaries of objects that mainly behave like fluids. On the other hand, a state-based elasticity approach induces a (by construction) non-Riemanniandissimilaritymeasure between shapes, which is giv...
